Minutes after Michigan State clinched its sixth Final Four under Tom Izzo, the wife was talking about going to Indianapolis to enjoy the game.
She was surprised to find out I didn’t really want to go. I am not a Spartan. She is. I have been to about eight Final Fours; she has been to one. I would rather watch Michigan State-Butler in my basement or a sports bar.
I love the atmosphere of the Final Four. I just do not want to spend $400 for tickets to sit in a corner of an expansive arena and see stick figures running back and forth. I love to study the action. Being part of a large crowd does nothing for me.
If I went to Indy I would let her go with the family and I’d go some place downtown and enjoy it on television.
Part of it is I have been there and done that. The other issue is television brings you so close to the action that I would rather chill on the couch than sit in uncomfortable plastic chairs.
If you want to go, enjoy. I am sure it will be a fun weekend.
If you want to save a spot for me at the corner bar, I would have a much better time.
