Jose Valverde Closes In On Todd Jones' Mark For Consecutive Scoreless Appearances
Right-hander Jose Valverde and his bullpen mates keep rolling, and Valverde is closing in on some Tigers history.
Valverde has allowed a run in only one game this season, and he now has a scoreless streak of 19 straight appearances.
According to Baseball-Reference.com, Valverde's streak is the fourth longest by a Tigers reliever in the many decades of the bullpen era. Todd Jones has the longest such streak (22 games in 2000), followed by Bobby Seay (who had 21-gamers in both 2007 and 2009).
