Report: Passengers Grumble Over 5-Hour Flight Delay
Passengers on a Detroit-to-Philadelphia flight found themselves going nowhere fast Thursday night.
Delta Flight 2262 was waiting at the gate over five hours because of a weather delay, but as they waited for clearer skies, the pilots and staff maxed out their flight time. So everyone waited while they found a new crew.
The incident brings into question new rules that fine carriers for letting flights sit on the tarmac over three hours. A Delta spokesman tells the Detroit News that the plane doors were open, meaning passengers were free to leave--and suggesting that they weren't subject to the three hour rule.
A watchdog group says there have been numerous complaints of flights that skirt the tarmac rules, to the frustration of passengers.
