Cockrel's Son Hit By Truck

Detroit City Councilman Ken Cockrel Jr.'s son has been taken to a hospital after being struck by a pickup truck. Police said the 16-year old was riding a bicycle near Grand River Avenue and the Lodge freeway when he was struck about 7:30 a.m. Thursday. Cockrel, who has two sons, was not immediately available for comment.

Police said the teen complained of pain in a leg and elbow, but his injuries aren't serious.

Stephens said the driver of the truck stopped after the collision, but it was not immediately known if the driver was ticketed.

An investigation is ongoing.
