Comcast HD Channels Top 100 In More Areas

Comcast, Michigan's No. 1 cable TV provider, announced another major milestone in its ongoing digital network enhancement by delivering local customers in dozens of communities throughout southeast Michigan access to more than 100 High Definition channels.

This "World of More" digital upgrade is clearing the way for more HD and On Demand programming, as well as faster Internet speeds.

Residents in the following communities now have new access to more than 100 HD channels:

Livingston County: Brighton, Brighton Township, Genoa Township, Green Oak Township, Howell and Oceola Township

Monroe County: Monroe, Monroe Township, Frenchtown Township and Raisinville Township

Oakland County: Clarkston, Commerce Township, Groveland Township, Highland Township, Independence Township, Lake Angeles, Lake Orion, Lyon Township, Milford Township, Milford Village, Orion Township, Pontiac, Rose Township, Springfield, Walled Lake, Waterford, White Lake Township, Wixom and Wolverine Lake Village

Wayne County: Allen Park, Augusta, Belleville, Berlin Township, Brownstown, Ecorse, Exeter, Flat Rock, Garden City, Gibralter, Grosse Ile, Inkster, Lincoln Park, London, Melvindale, River Rouge, Riverview, Rockwood, Romulus, South Rockwood, Southgate, Sumpter Township, Taylor, Trenton, Van Buren Township, Wayne, Westland, Woodhaven and York.

Over the last several months, Comcast digitized more than 40 channels on the local TV lineup across dozens of communities in southeast Michigan, enabling it to add more than 55 new HD channels, including popular channels such as WGN HD, BET HD, CBS College Sports HD, and CMT HD, among others.

As part of the upgrade of its advanced fiber-optic network, Comcast is providing customers with digital equipment for up to three TVs (one digital set-top box and two digital adapters) at no additional cost.  Customers who have been watching these analog cable channels without digital equipment should contact Comcast now to receive the digital equipment that is available to them at no additional cost.

Customers can visit www.comcast.com/digitalnow, call (877) 634-4434 or stop by a Comcast customer service center to receive their equipment.  Wayne County customers can visit the Comcast service center in Dearborn (5070 Schaefer Road); Oakland County customers may visit the service center in Royal Oak (4500 Delemere Avenue); Wayne and Monroe County customers may visit the service center in Taylor (24744 Eureka Road); and Livingston County customers can visit the Ann Arbor service center (2505 South Industrial Highway).

Comcast's digital network enhancement does not affect its Limited Basic Cable, Digital Economy and Family Tier customers.

"After helping so many customers obtain their digital equipment in the past weeks, we're very excited to announce we have reached the milestone of 100 plus HD channels," said Mike Cleland, Vice President of Operations for Comcast's Michigan Region. "We already offer our customers more HD programming than any other provider -- more than 3,000 HD choices every month -- and we are thrilled that the investment in our local network has allowed us to deliver the best viewing experience in our industry.  Our customers can now enjoy more than 100 HD channels, thanks to this investment in our local network."

To enjoy HD programming, customers must subscribe to a Comcast HD video package, have an HDTV and an HD-enabled set-top box from Comcast. For more information about Comcast's products and services, call (888) COMCAST or visit www.comcast.com.

With this upgrade to Comcast's fiber-optic network, the company is making it easier for consumers to access the benefits of digital cable -- superior digital picture and sound quality, interactive services like On Demand, more than 46 music channels, parental controls and the interactive program guide. All of these interactive services are only available with a digital set-top box. The enhancement will also allow Comcast to boost the size of its On Demand library, which already offers digital cable customers more than 17,000 programs at any time, the vast majority of them for no additional charge.

Comcast's content networks and investments include E! Entertainment Television, Style Network, Golf Channel, Versus, G4, PBS Kids Sprout, TV One, 11 regional sports networks operated by Comcast Sports Group and Comcast Interactive Media, which develops and operates Comcast's Internet businesses, including Comcast.net (www.comcast.net). Comcast also has a majority ownership in Comcast-Spectacor, which owns two professional sports teams, the Philadelphia 76ers NBA basketball team and the Philadelphia Flyers NHL hockey team, and a large, multipurpose arena in Philadelphia, the Wachovia Center, and manages other facilities for sporting events, concerts and other events.

Comcast's Michigan Region serves more than one million customers statewide and employs approximately 4,000 people. Comcast has three major call centers in the state and houses its Michigan Region headquarters in Southfield.
