Four Struck By Lightning In Richland Twp.

Montcalm County Sheriff officials say four people were struck by lightning while attending a family Christian camp in central lower Michigan. The unidentified victims - two boys and two girls between 10- and 18-years-old - were standing near a baseball field in Richland Township, southwest of Mount Pleasant, about 2 p.m. Thursday when they were struck.

Undersheriff Mark Bellinger said in a statement that all four victims were ``knocked to the ground, and suffered burns and numbness to their extremities.''

Titus Byer, assistant pastor of the Rock Lake Bible Methodist Church, tells the Morning Sun of Mount Pleasant that a 12-year-old boy was airlifted to a hospital in Grand Rapids. Three others were taken to hospitals complaining of headaches.

No further details were released.
