Democratic gubernatorial candidate Andy Dillon has snagged an endorsement from Detroit Mayor Dave Bing.
Bing announced his support Thursday morning at Dillon’s Detroit campaign office.
Dillon is running against Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero for the Democratic nomination. Both have sought endorsements in heavily Democratic Detroit, but Dillon appears to be doing the better job.
The House speaker has been endorsed by former Detroit Mayor Dennis Archer and the Detroit Regional Chamber. Earlier this week, he won the backing of the Council of Baptist Pastors of Detroit and the Fannie Lou Hamer Political Action Committee.
Bernero has garnered more union support.
The pair will face off in the Aug. 3 primary election.
