Granholm Optimistic About Candidates For Gov.

(WWJ Photo/Jeff Gilbert)

When the primary election results came in, current Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm said she believes both Democratic candidate Virg Bernero and Republican Rick Snyder are interested in Michigan's progress. "I actually am very positive about the election results," Granholm said.

"I think both are interested in continuing to diversify Michigan's economy... I think both are really interested in investing in education and higher education," she said.

Granholm said there's a clear personality choice, but the economy policies are not that far apart.

She said that as a Democrat, she will support Virg Bernero.

"Virg Bernero is tough and determined to fight for the things that matter most to Michigan families – diversifying Michigan's economy, educating our citizens, and protecting people as we move through these tough times," she said.

"I look forward to working with him to continue moving Michigan forward," she said.

Granholm could not run again due to term limits.
