The Pentagon says Army Pfc. Bradley D. Rappuhn of Grand Ledge died Sunday.

It says he and another soldier were wounded when insurgents attacked their unit with an improvised explosive in Zhari Kandahar, Afghanistan.

His mother Roxanne Rappuhn says her son “was supposed to come home in the end of July” but had 45 days tacked on to his tour.

His family traveled to Dover, Del., for a ceremony Monday marking the return of his body to the U.S.

Rappuhn graduated in 2004 from Grand Ledge High School.

His unit was out of Fort Benning, Ga.
