It has been one year since 21-year-old Matthew Landry of Chesterfield Township was abducted from an Eastpointe sub shop and was murdered.
Landry was carjacked outside a Quiznos restaurant at 10 Mile Rd. and Gratiot on August 9th of last year. His body was found days later inside an abandoned house in Detroit.
Friends and family members released balloons and white doves during a memorial, Monday.
Speaking with reporter’s at the memorial, Landry’s girlfriend, Francesca Bommarito, said she was left changed by this loss.
“It’s been like a real eye opener. I feel more spiritual now, like more in turn with myself,” Bommarito said. “I feel like I’m doing better things as a person, because I’ve lost something so great,” she said.
Nineteen-year old Ihab Maslamani and 17-year old Robert Taylor are awaiting separate murder trials in the case.
