Verizon Adds Cell Sites In Southwest Michigan

Verizon Wireless has activated two new cell sites in Van Buren County.

The new cell sites, each of which is equipped with a permanent backup generator for times of emergency, improve voice and data coverage along the following major roads:

* I-94 between the County Road 365 interchange to the east and the 62nd Street interchange to the west (south of Hartford);
* County Road 681 north to the Bangor town line;
* I-94 west of Paw Paw from 40th Street west to the intersection of I-94 and Territorial Road, and
* M-51 between the Red Arrow Highway to the north and 72nd Avenue to the south.

"These new cell sites were built to ensure that our customers who travel these roads regularly can continue relying on their phones for staying in touch," said Greg Haller, president of the Michigan-Indiana-Kentucky region for Verizon Wireless. "The most advanced device is only as good as the network it runs on. That's why we aggressively invest in our Michigan network to increase coverage and capacity for our customers and continue to raise the bar in network reliability."

Verizon Wireless has invested more than $60 billion since it was formed -- $5.7 billion on average every year -- to increase the coverage and capacity of its premier nationwide network and to add new services.

In Michigan, Verizon Wireless has more than 2,100 employees and 65 company-owned retail locations in more than 40 cities.
