Man Drowns After Canoe Accident

Michigan State Police say a 28-year-old Upper Peninsula man drowned after falling out of a canoe on the Menominee River.

The accident happened about 3 p.m. Saturday in Menominee County's Lake Township on the river that marks the Michigan-Wisconsin state line.

State police say Jerod J. Therriault of Menominee was one of two males in the canoe when it accidentally overturned. The other occupant made it to shore.

Authorities found Therriault after a 20-minute search. He was declared dead at Bay Area Medical Center.
