Bloomfield Software Firm In Deal With VMware

Bloomfield Hills-based Lakeside Software announced Monday a new partnership with VMware to assist customers and partners in adopting desktop virtualization based on VMware View.

VMware Technical Services Professionals, including the VMware Professional Services Organization, will be able to use Lakeside Software SysTrack assessment, design and planning tools to support and accelerate VMware View and VMware ThinAppdeployment opportunities in pre-sales and post-sales desktop assessments.

Under terms of the agreement between the companies, VMware Professional Services Partners around the world will be able to leverage SysTrack software in desktop virtualization projects.

SysTrack helps organizations plan and optimize application delivery strategies and realize substantial savings in desktop and application costs while optimizing end user experience.

Over the past several years, SysTrack has gained substantial market headway, and has more than 300 systems integrators and partners.

"SysTrack provides a comprehensive, real-world view of the activity taking place across an organization's desktop computing environment," said Mike Schumacher, CTO at Lakeside Software. "SysTrack provides accurate assessment information to plan and implement a successful virtual desktop platform, and delivers it in a packaged report format that provides easy-to-understand answers to the various stakeholders involved in the process."

SysTrack helps customers assess and plan for desktop optimization and virtualization because it delivers a process-oriented approach that spans the full range of technologies needed during the desktop project lifecycle. Beginning with discovery and assessment, continuing with design and capacity planning, business case development through ROI modeling and ending with ongoing end user experience management, only SysTrack provides the needed continuum of tools required for success.

In the early phases of virtualization projects, customers gain automated assessment and discovery that helps them to identify the best candidates based on real usage patterns and conditions. In subsequent phases, customers gain tools that help design desktop pools, servers, storage and networks that optimize results. They use capacity planning tools that size and scope environments accurately. In project approval phases, automated ROI models help provide costing and justification. During pilot phases, SysTrack tools validate results and build confidence in rollout plans. Finally, ongoing management and diagnostic tools help ensure that the best end user experience is achieved.

"Desktop assessments with robust tools such as SysTrack significantly help customers accelerate the benefits of desktop virtualization and validate the optimal path to implementation in their organizations," said Andy Knosp, Senior Director of VMware Professional Services, VMware. "This solution will help our professional services partners get customers on the path to cloud computing faster while improving end user experience."
