97-Year Old Dies In Accident

Authorities say a 97-year-old Michigan man died after he was thrown from his car during a crash in Monroe County.

The sheriff's department says Jack Meyers of Monroe wasn't wearing a seat belt at the time of Monday morning's crash in Raisinville Township, about 35 miles southwest of Detroit.

Meyers is believed to have been driving north when his 1996 Lincoln drove onto the gravel shoulder. He drove back onto the roadway, but the car went into a ditch, hit a utility pole and rolled over.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash is under investigation.
