I-96 Near Brighton Re-opens

Michigan State Police have re-opened eastbound I-96 near Brighton that was shut down for 11 hours yesterday because of an overturned semi.

The freeway was shut down after the truck overturned and the driver lost his load of car batteries and acid spilled onto the freeway.

Drivers were being forced off the freeway at Grand River. Several people contacted the WWJ Newsroom to say they - or someone they knew - had been stuck on the freeway for as much as five hours.

Police say the driver was hurt, however, his condition is unknown at this time. No other vehicles were involved in the accident.
