With the start of the new school year just three weeks away, a local group is making sure kids have the supplies they need to succeed in the classroom. Operation Kid Equip provides low income children with school supplies, food and hygiene products.
Kid Equip CoFounder Menachem Kniespeck says the need is bigger than ever because of Michigan’s economy. Operation Kid Equip gave away 250 backpacks last Saturday in Oakland County. This Saturday, they’ll be doubling that number in Macomb County.
Operation Kid Equip will be handing out backpacks Saturday, August 21st at Warren City Hall for the first 500 children in line, between 11am and 3pm. There will also be other activities, food, and health screenings. And ten thousand free new children’s books will be given out to all those who attend.
