Pastor Charged With Sex Assault
A local pastor was arraigned Friday in Detroit's 36th District Court on charges he sexually assaulted a teenaged member of the church.
Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy charged Timothy Jackson, 46, in an arrest warrant with six counts of first-degree criminal sexual assaults of a 13-year-old girl.
The charges carry a maximum sentence of life in prison, according to prosecutors.
Bond was set at $50,000.
The alleged attacks occurred between 2009 and 2010 at Abundant Life Church, 437 Livernois in southwest Detroit, according to a press release. Jackson was pastor at the time of the alleged assaults.
There also was a fire at the church on Aug. 6 that is believed to be suspicious and possibly linked to the alleged assaults.
