Arson Suspect Due In Court
The Detroit man charged with setting the fire that injured seven Detroit firefighters earlier this month is the focus of a federal hearing Monday morning.
The 29-year-old Samson Wright was arrested several days after the fire on East Jefferson at Dickerson on August 13th.
The complaint charges Wright with one count of destruction of a building used in or affecting interstate commerce, by fire. If convicted he faces five to 20-years in prison.
Some of the firefighters were injured when a wall fell on them. Four remain in serious condition.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco & Fire, the Detroit Fire Department's arson unit, the Detroit Police Department, and the Michigan State Police are investigating the incident.
