Arson Suspect Due In Court

jefferson fire three 0024 Arson Suspect Due In CourtThe Detroit man charged with setting the fire that injured seven Detroit firefighters earlier this month is the focus of a federal hearing Monday morning.

The 29-year-old Samson Wright was arrested several days after the fire on East Jefferson at Dickerson on August 13th.

The complaint charges Wright with one count of destruction of a building used in or affecting interstate commerce, by fire. If convicted he faces five to 20-years in prison.

Some of the firefighters were injured when a wall fell on them. Four remain in serious condition.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco & Fire, the Detroit Fire Department’s arson unit, the Detroit Police Department, and the Michigan State Police are investigating the incident.
