Wife Says Husband Stabbed Her Before Fire

The Orion area Chamber of Commerce is stunned after the stabbing of their board President on Sunday. Fifty-six year old Rosemary Rangi told police she had been stabbed several times by her husband, but was able to escape their home that had been set ablaze.

The body of Dalijit Range was found in the burned out remnants of the couple's residence in Orion Township.

Officials believe the fire may have been intentionally set.

"[We believe] this woman was stabbed by the perpetrator who may be this person now charred in the vehicle. But that's again just blush reaction to how this looks and plays out but it's very early in the investigation," said Oakland County Sheriff Mike Bouchard.

Monday afternoon, Rosemary Rangi remained hospitalized in stable condition. She was in intensive care Monday morning.

The couple has three adult children.

The executive director of the Orion Chamber, Alaina Campbell said she had no idea of any marital problems between the couple, although they usually just talked business.

A special Rosemary Rangi fund has been set up to help with expenses. Donations can be left at Genisys Credit Union in Lake Orion.
