Candle Sparked Fire At Roseville Apartments

A lit candle in an apartment led to a blaze that destroyed the entire complex Tuesday at Southeastern Manor in the 14 Mile Road/Kelley area of Roseville.

No one was injured, but the damage was extensive.

Kelly, who works nearby, described the scene Tuesday morning.

"It's intensifying now, on the back building. We're watching it. They've got the front one, it looks like, under control and put out, but it's caught another building behind it," she said.

Alison Koenighauer of the Southeast Michigan Red Cross says all twelve apartment units were lost.

"We have responded to and found fifteen of those residents, which we are providing assistance through clothing. We are also providing shelter to at least ten residents at this time, through lodging at a hotel," Koenighauer said.

Monetary donations can be made to the Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund.
