Man Dies After Police Stun Gun Shock
A 50-year-old man who fell and struck his head after Livonia police subdued him with a stun gun has died in a Detroit area hospital. Police said in a release that Michael Ford died Tuesday night.
Police said officers confronted a knife-wielding Ford outside his apartment complex Aug. 14 while investigating a loud music complaint. Police say one officer used a stun gun after Ford failed to obey.
Ewayne Harrell told The Detroit News his cousin sustained a ruptured spleen, cracked pelvis and head injuries.
Harrell said Ford didn't have a knife.
Livonia police say they're investigating Ford's death. The Wayne County medical examiner and prosecutor also are part of the investigation.
