Body Parts Found In Detroit

Detroit Police are looking in to a bizarre discovery on the city's east side. An investigation is underway after where body parts were found scattered through a field.

Police tape was up over an area covering a couple of blocks, at Hale and Chene near Eastern Market , where someone found two legs and an arm Monday morning.

Police spokeswoman Sgt. Eren Stephens said officers located the parts after receiving a 911 call about 9 a.m. Monday.

WWJ spoke with residents at the scene who said it appeared the body parts belong to a black female.

Police said, in this neighborhood, it could be a message killing -- related to drugs or perhaps prostitution.

Wayne County spokesman Dennis Niemiec said that the parts were confirmed to be from a human and are believed to be from the same person. The county medical examiner is working with police on identifying the body.

The vacant field where the parts were found is a few miles outside downtown.
