A new poll shows that Americans with the strongest opinions about the country’s most divisive issues are unhappy with how President Barack Obama is handling them.
The Associated Press-GfK poll shows that Americans who expressed intense interest in nine out of 15 issues, including the economy, unemployment, federal deficits and terrorism, are strongly opposed to Obama’s work on them. Opinionated Americans approved of Obama’s performance on just one issue: U.S. relationships with other countries.
In a danger sign for Democrats, most Americans who are extremely concerned about 10 of the issues say they will vote for the Republican candidate in their local House race. Only those highly interested in the environment lean toward the Democrats.
