Rookie Casper Wells Discovers Productive Talks Help Him At The Bat
Larry Parrish, the manager of the Tigers' Triple-A Toledo farm club, summoned outfielder Casper Wells to his office before a game in July.
They started talking.
The team had its pregame stretching drill, but Wells missed it. He and Parrish continued to talk. Then batting practice began, but Wells wasn't taking any swings. He and Parrish kept talking.
"For an hour and a half," Wells said.
