Commerce Secretary Outlines Job Creation Program

The U.S. Commerce Secretary is expected to outline next steps for a federal job creation program during a stop in Auburn Hills Wednesday morning.

Gary Locke will be at ALTe's headquarters on Purks Road to talk with local businesses about services offered from CommerceConnect, a pilot program that offers businesses technical assistance, counseling, and referrals to state and local services.

The office opened in Plymouth last October. The one-stop program created last year integrates federal, state, and local programs to help businesses at every point in their life cycle, according to a news release highlighting the visit. The office is staffed by specialists who act as case workers for businesses that seek assistance in areas such as access to capital, intellectual property protection, export promotion, or guidance on how to make operations more efficient.

ALTe is developing electric and hybrid propulsion systems for the auto industry.
