Serial Strangling Suspect Arraigned In 1968 Death

A 67-year-old serial strangling suspect has been arraigned in the 1968 killing of a Pontiac woman.

Nolan R. George is charged with first-degree murder in the death of 36-year-old Gwendolyn Perry. He was arraigned Wednesday in Pontiac District Court and ordered jailed without bond.

Defense lawyer Jacob Long says it's unfair to prosecute George in such an old case.

Authorities say George strangled his victims with their underwear.
Police arrested him in July in Ohio, and a Butler County judge ordered him extradited to Michigan.

George was freed in 1982 after 12 years in Michigan prison for killing 22-year-old Frances Brown of Lake Orion. He also served time in Ohio for strangling a woman and is suspected in other attacks.
