Clarkston’s Police force is no more as of this weekend.

The department was eliminated by budget cuts and turned over their responsiblities as of 11:00 p.m. Friday to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Department, working from their Independence township substation.

Residents are expected to see little change in coverage, with the Sheriff’s Department already handling 911 calls.
