Omni Hotels have decided to leave Detroit. The company says if they can’t sell the Omni Detroit Hotel and River Place by October 12th they will close down.

The 108 room hotel has been a riverside fixture for more than a decade.

Spokesperson Karen Kboudi tells WWJ they’ve always been a popular hideaway spot for celebrities when they’re in town, but it wasn’t something they talked much about.

“We typically don’t make public announcements about those people when they stay at our properties, because we like to protect their privacy,” she said.

I LOVE this place. However I don’t think the Omni people has done much to publicize this place. It’s awesome! Why they have gone out of their way to keep it a secret is beyond me. If the Sheraton folks, or perhaps Westin people could take over and TELL PEOPLE ABOUT IT, I think it could be a big plus to the city.
