Animal Cruelty Case In Oakland County

Authorities say 13 horses, including some that were emaciated, have been confiscated from an Oakland County farm.

The owner has been cited for 19 counts of animal cruelty. Oakland County Animal Control and Michigan State Police confiscated the horses from the farm in Rose Township.

Authorities first visited the farm about a month ago after receiving a tip about undernourished horses. At that time, animal control warned the farm's owner to improve conditions.

Anyone wishing to donate to help feed and care for the horses may send donations to the Oakland County Animal Shelter, 1700 Brown Road, Auburn Hills, 48326 or go to www.oakgov.com/petadoption.

Media inquiries only may be directed to Oakland County Animal Shelter Manager Larry Obrecht at 248-391-0278.
