The Detroit chapter of TiE, also known as Talent, Ideas, Enterprise, will present the annual TiE Midwest 20 Startup Awards 2010 at its TiECon Midwest annual conference to be held at The Henry Ford in Dearborn Oct. 28 and 29.
TiECon Midwest 2010 is an entrepreneurial conference, attracting hundreds of entrepreneurs, venture capitalists and other professionals. TiE Midwest 20 Awards acknowledges excellence among 20 early stage startups within four industry verticals: Internet, software, mobile and media. If you run or work at a startup or know of one that demonstrates a sound business model, innovation, market viability and value to society, nominate them for the awards. The deadline for nominations is Thursday, Sept. 23.
“TiE20 is a great opportunity for all entrepreneurs aspiring to become tomorrow’s stars,” said TiE Detroit president Tel Ganesan. “We hope this is a first step towards identifying the rising stars in the Midwest region and bring them to spotlight and help them be part of the economic revival of the region.”
TiE20 finalists will be selected by a combination of evaluations, screenings and judging by successful entrepreneurs, venture capitalists and industry experts, as well as by public polling. In addition to the results of the public poll, the finalist companies will be judged on their product or service, market size and dynamics, leadership team, business model and progress since founding.
TiE20 winners will be honored with awards of excellence in front of several well established entrepreneurs, venture capitalists and other business professionals during TiEcon Midwest. Additionally, the TiE20 winners will present their companies in a live showcase at the conference and get special invitations to PowerConnect premium networking sessions. They will also be a part of the ongoing recognition from TiE Detroit throughout the year.
“We introduced TiE20 last year to great success,” said Mateen Syed, chair of the TiE20 Midwest Startup Awards. “This is an ideal platform for Early Stage Startups to get increased visibility and connectivity through TiE’s powerful global entrepreneurial ecosystem that is dedicated to fostering and enhancing entrepreneurship.”
