Herman Moore Sounds Off On "The Catch"

Former Lion Herman Moore was happy to talk about his accomplishments as a former football player. But the 54th Michigan Sports Hall of Fame dinner Monday night came at a time when the entire community is in an uproar about the Lions 19-14 loss to the Bears the day before.

That was the hot topic among sports figures and fans alike during the ceremony at the Rock Financial Show Place.

"My initial reaction was like everybody else," Moore said of the call that took away Calvin Johnson's apparent go-ahead touchdown. "When you start looking deeper, the officials made the call based on technicalities. But when you look at it, the rule was never meant for that type of play. It was meant for a catch, tap down and trying to maintain possession of the ball, not for a guy who caught the ball, fell on his rear, put a hand down and then was also putting the ball on the ground.
