Pontiac Police Await Autopsy Results In 5-month-old's Death

Police in Pontiac are investigating the death of a five month old baby. Investigators say the 18-year-old mother and her child were sleeping together after both went to bed Monday night. Police say the grandmother found the child unresponsive and noticed the mother was gone. The infant was rushed to St. Joseph Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Sgt. Kevin Braddock tells WWJ a preliminary investigation shows that suffocation is suspected in the death of the baby, but they're awaiting autopsy results from the Oakland County medical examiner's office.

The case is being turned over to the prosecutor's office for possible neglect charges.
