Fire Destroys Bloomfield Twp. Home

Lightning could be to blame for a fire that destroyed a Bloomfield Township home Thursday afternoon.

The two story house on Dourdan Street, near Woodward and Hickory Grove caught fire around 3:30 p.m. as thunderstorms moved through the area.

The homeowners are out of town, according to neighbor Katrina Stencel who told WWJ she thought her house had been hit by lightning before she saw smoke coming from the neighboring home.

"Their whole house is ruined, it's terrible," Stencel said.

No injuries were reported.

Investigators will determine if lightning was the cause.
