More Charges Coming In Serial Stabbings

A Flint prosecutor is filing more charges against Elias Abuelazam, the man accused of one stabbing and suspected of many others in Michigan and other states.

Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton told WWJ the case is quickly growing.

"The crime lab has been working very, very hard to find evidence for us. We've been out and about re-interviewing witnesses, and we're ready with additional charges sometime next week," he said.

Leyton said he'll share more details at a news conference on Monday.

Five men in the Flint area were killed and nine others were injured in a series of stabbings between spring and early August.

So far, Abuelazam is charged in just one case -- the attempted murder of a 26-year-old man. He was arrested last month at the Atlanta airport while trying to travel to Israel, his native country.

Abuelazam also is a suspect in two stabbings and a hammer attack in Virginia and a stabbing in Ohio.

A message seeking comment was left Friday for his lawyer.
