Police Hunt Shopping Center Attacker

Police are looking for an attacker who groped two women at shopping center in Troy.

These incidents occurred recently in the same strip mall on John R Road, across from Oakland Mall.

One victim, a 40-year-old woman from Sterling Heights, was standing in line to pay for her purchases Borders.

The other victim, a 23-year-old woman from Clinton Twp., was walking to her car in the parking lot of TJ Maxx.

WWJ Newsradio 950 spoke with Troy Police Spokesman Officer James Feld. 

"She felt that there was somebody behind her. She did notice a male subject behind her, and when she stopped to let him pass, he reached up underneath her skirt," Feld said.

Luckily one of the women caught the license plate number of her attacker and called police.

When authorities ran the plate, the found the vehicle was registered to a 2003 Lincoln Aviator out of Ontario.  Troy investigators are working with Canadian border authorities, as well as local law enforcement in Ontario to identify the suspect.

Feld said they adding extra patrols in the area to ensure this doesn't happen again. "We're taking this very seriously. And we're glad that the victims weren't hurt any further than just being touched," he said.

The suspect is described as a white male with dark wavy hair, a tan completion, 6 feet tall, and about 25 to 30 years old, although he may be younger. One victim said her attacker was wearing an orange t-shirt and dark sweat pants. The other victim said the man wore a blue t-shirt and plaid pants.

Anyone with information about these attacks are asked to contact Troy police.
