Authorities say a 4-year-old boy escaped with only scrapes and bruises after being run over by a mail truck in southeast Michigan.

The Macomb Daily of Mount Clemens reports the boy was run over Tuesday afternoon while he and his father were out greeting the mail carrier outside their home in Macomb County’s Washington Township.

The newspaper said the boy went in front of the truck as the carrier was leaving.

Sheriff’s Capt. Tony Wickersham said the boy was taken to a hospital as a precaution and was expected to be fine.
