Client Wins From October 5

DMC Chooses CareTech Document Management: Troy-based CareTech Solutions, an IT and Web products and services provider for more than 150 U.S. hospitals, announced that the Detroit Medical Center  has selected the company's document imaging solution, iDoc, for the eight-facility integrated delivery system's patient financial services operation. "As the largest healthcare provider in southeast Michigan, DMC's Patient Financial Services has been handling nearly four million documents a year, with a need to handle more," said Candace Scott, vice president of revenue cycle for the DMC. "That's a lot of information going through our system, and the former document scanning system just couldn't keep up. Document imaging technology is a fundamental workflow tool for our processes, and with CareTech's iDoc, we get a hosted solution that interfaces easily with our enterprise processes and systems – not to mention it's easy to use and quick to implement." CareTech president and CEO Jim Giordano noted that "iDoc, as a hosted solution, is a great alternative for hospitals who don't want to carry the hardware costs, own the maintenance responsibility, or staff for the technical support. CareTech's document imaging offering is a welcome solution for healthcare clinical and business departments that want to realize the economic benefits of the paperless office without alienating themselves from corporate-wide health information strategies." The iDoc application and client data are housed in a CareTech Solutions SAS 70 Type 2 accredited secure data center. CareTech is responsible for all application maintenance, database maintenance, application upgrades, third-party product support, technical support, disaster recovery, system backups, hardware upgrades, and system monitoring.
