Man Accused Of Stealing Equipment From Tech Center

A 44-year-old York Township man accused of stealing more than $100,000 in equipment and tools from the Hyundai-Kia America Technical Center in Superior Township has been charged.

Tony Calleja was charged Tuesday with embezzling $100,000 or more, receiving $20,000 or more in stolen property and possessing a silencer.

Washtenaw County Sheriff spokesman Derrick Jackson tells AnnArbor.com that Calleja is expected to turn himself in.

Authorities say Calleja stole the items between Jan. 1, 2009 and July 20, 2010 while he was an employee.

The center's website describes the facility as the ``design, technology and engineering arm for all North American models of the Korean-based Hyundai-Kia Motors Group.''

A phone number listed under Calleja's name rang unanswered Wednesday.
