Thank you so much Mike for calling out all of the people that are still in denial. The UofM fans always fall back on the overall record. Yeah we know. Congradulations. You have had the most successful college football team in the past 100 years but you know what that doesn’t take away from the fact that my team has beat yours in the past 3 meetings bitch! I love it

  • Captain 19

LOL..this cracks me up ..Sparty wins three years in a row for thefirst time in 47 years and you think they have turned the corner..LOL..they havent even made the middle of the block..im looking thru the windsheild and i dont see sparty anywhere in sight..soo enjoy it while you can ..lol

  • Bill (bleads Green) Courtright

to the tune of hail to the victors Hail o poor Micigan,Hail o poor Michigan Hail ,Hail Poor Michigan You;ve done it again,
See that your line is crumbing, see your QB stumbing Hail Hail to MSU Spartan Rein Supreme

  • Grant

    yes! THANK YOU!

    Go Green!

  • Scott

Nice job Mike. This was my second favorite rant, only to be usurped by you know what. Your comments are EXACTLY what was all over the faces of UM fan as they watched us sing the fight song late in the 4th in their house. Astonished, confused, and scared (in that order) is how I would have described it. The walk back to the car was one THE best I’ve ever experienced as a Spartan. Not one UMer said a word…not even to each other. They didn’t have to. Because they were thinking it…….It’s over……….

  • shadowr

I couldnt agree with you more Micheal. There will be wins and losses but the dominance is dead for Michigan

  • MikeR

This is the best 15 minutes of Radio EVER. Wow!

  • Mike

Couldn’t agree more Mike………Michigan’s dominance is done. Over. Finito. Adios. Kaput!! State imposed their will all day and it was a joy to see just the pure physical domination!! Wish I could have listened today (beyond podcast) from Toronto on business……..Go Green!! Now follow it up with a similar display against the Illini.

  • Jason

    Just beautiful…

  • Carl Johnson

Mike, I’m old enough to remember when Duffy Daughterty’s Spartans dominated Michigan in the 1960′s. Last Saturday, we all witnessed the defining epitaph of a great 40 year run by the Wolverines that began in 1969 when Bo Schembechler arrived. It was a great 40 year run, but it’s now over and dead. Period. As far as the Spartans, you are correct that that next couple of seasons will tell if MSU can achieve anything close to the 40 years of magic that Michigan had. We will see………

  • Kevin

Wow…sparty..don’t get carried away. You are 4-7 since 2000 and were a loosing football team last year. You have won 3 in a row, I got it. Win the big 10, win a rose bowl, the only thing you showed me was you beat a team that was a little better than Indiana.

  • Zeeman87

What would you say to “Four-Peat” Dude, it’s what have you done recently that you should be worried about! BTW, do you really think RichRod’s boys have a chance to win in “The Horseshoe”? Inquiring minds want to know.

  • scUM

Mike, one of my favorite shows yesterday since the infamous ’06 ND rant. Michigan fans are in denial; their team is so unbalanced and overrated, relying on player whose fame was garnered by not tying his shoes. U-M fans (ahem, Walmarters) always bring up the past and how dominant they were, when in essence they won one CO-national title in the 90s — not to mention beat MSU when they played a virtual home game every year. And for how great Bo was, he never won jack.

    Go Green

  • originalmike

Congratulations to Michigan State on a great win!
But let’s not get carried away here. 3 wins over Michigan the past 3 years does not mean you turned the corner and now your program is among the elite. Your program right now is better than it was 4 years ago and the Michigan program is much worse. .

Let’s just see it for what it is.
As far as Michigan goes. They are in trouble. I’m not sure Rich Rod gets it. The talent at defense is not there. I don’t care what the schemes he runs. You still have to tackle when you are in position to make a tackle.
Denard is going to be a great quarterback. Michigan States defense confused him with the coverages and he mis-read them in some key situations where Michigan was going in for scores. Remember. he is basically a freshman because he did not play much at all last year. He should get better at reads and be calmer in these situation in the future. Better to throw away the ball and run another play than to throw into a coverage.

A real concern is that a coach cannot have improvement at defense in his 3rd year. I would say it is probably a little worse than his first year. That and a kicking game that appears to be an afterthought. They needed Denard to do what he did in the first 5 games or they would have probably lost 3 to 4 of them.

So the State game loss tells Michigan fans how bad things really are in regards to the program. Michigan completely faded in the 2nd half. It was embarassing to watch as a Michigan fan.

Congratulation on the win State, but don’t be oblivious to the true facts. You have won your first 6 games, but you have to show everyone you deserve to be rated at #11. Wins against mostly suspect teams proves you merely survived the early part of the schedule.(the same can be said for the early Michigans wins, btw)
So prove it to everyone by playing well for a full season.

    Good Luck!

  • Steve

Yes, they have turned the page in terms of beating UM for a 3rd straight year. However, if you don’t know anything about football (I’m sure most of his followers) and listened to Mikey (that’s what he calls himself), you would think MSU was a National powerhouse. Mike said yesterday that what we all knew of UM now resides in East Lansing. Really? Let’s just take a look at what I know of UM football in my lifetime (since the 70′s): they have 1 National Championship and 20 Big Ten Championships. In my lifetime, what I know of Sparty is that they have 0 National Championships and 3 Big Ten Championships (one of which was the Roid season). So, Mikey and all your Sparty sheep, you go right ahead and believe you are what you think you are. UM is down, but we all know they’ll be back. We also ALL know that Sparty will revert back to Sparty sooner than later. Oh, and did I hear Mikey call Dantonio “Lord” yesterday? Now he’s the Lord? I would figure the Lord could’ve at least won a Bowl game by now. Mikey, you are clueless.

Simply wonderful Mike. I sat in a bar just outside my cottage on Lake Huron watching the game with my 11 year old son. The bar is a pure MSU bar, Greena and White tile, Block S banner and Green ceiling above. For whatever reason, there were a couple of wolverine fans there (eventhough their bar was just across the street). They just glared at me everytime state did something great because I was reacting rather ahem, loudly. 5 minutes into the 4th quarter they all quietly got up and left. Meanwhile I having the time of my life watching Wolverine fans quitely leaving as their team and entier athletic program crumbled before their eyes. What a wonder day.

  • Chris

To Captain 19 and all the other “history” buffs of UofM, here’s a tip: Don’t fall into the trap. We Spartys have another big rival called Notre Dame. In the last 14 years we’ve owed them 10-4. When we started beating them regularly they began to pontificate about “tradition” and “cumlative wins” and other such banalities which we found truly interesting as we beat them again and again. They chose to ignore what was happening and instead stood on history books to appear taller. You can avoid that embarrassing route. Acknowledge State is superior, dig in, and fight to regain what you’ve lost. The one thing you have going for you is that you play in a smashmouth league. ND chose to avoid that to keep its’ cushy TV contract. You are fortunate not to have that choice. It’s man up or be exposed, because here is the ugly truth: State could lose every game from now until you walk into E. Lansing next year, and there would still be no reason to doubt that State will crush you. You are out-manned, out-coached and out-toughed. Mike made a very valid point when he said the next 18 months will determine where both of these programs are going. Throw away your history books and get to work.

  • Kelly

I totally agree with you Mike. As I watched all the Michigan fans leave the stadium in the 4th quarter, they knew that the days of Michigan dominating football are over. They are just in denial. And to all the U of M fans that say that all we did was beat a crappy U of M team…you were not saying that Friday afternoon before the game. It was all hail Denard and how great U of M is. It is a great time to be a Spartan and I am going to enjoy the victory and the rest of the season. Go Green!

  • Nick

I love that MSU beat Michigan because we have switched styles it is proven that power football and good defense is the way to win the Big Ten. MSU has turned into a program that is based on running the ball and I love that Dantonio and Treadwell unlike some coaches will stick with the run even if it is not working at first that is how you win football games and that is how you build a program and that is what Dantonio is doing unlike Rich Rod who is destroying what Michigan football is with his style offense Bo is turning over in his grave with this spread offense that Rich Rod has brought to the program. Bo was a Michigan man, Llyod Carr was a Michigan man, Rich Rod is not a Michigan man he is the opposite and the program needs to find another coach like Llyod and Bo, how bout U of M starts coach hunting and it should start in Palo Alto.

  • Kmart Spartan

Wonderful Day? Watching a game in a bar with your 11 yr old son. I would say that is the pinnacle of a Kmart Spartan!
MSU was the best team. Its great that the Kmart Spartans would rather beat UofM more than winning a National Title.

  • talal fram

idk how ur gonna say UM was dominated in 2009, it ended in OT, but ur right, sparty has won it 3 years in a row

  • BCR

The only thing I disagree with is that we care more about Michigan State than OSU. We don’t mind that we have to interact with them day-to-day. The only times we have to are when we go to McDonald’s…

Very accurate and from the “hart”. Little brother has grown-up, developed large stones and crushed “big-brother” for 3 years in a row. GO GREEN/GO WHITE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Mike

Typical living in the past Michigan fan. You’re 0-3 against MSU under RichRod and haven’t beat Ohio State since 03.

But yeah keep getting excited about wins from 100 years ago. Because they are totally relevant to the 2010 season.

  • BT

This is hilarious!!! Are you for real- you must be kidding! Everyone with any type of football sense knows that U of M is still rebuilding- rotating 7 true freshman on the defense etc.- if you want to hang your hat on three wins against an average U of M team – go ahead- you will be sorely disappointed in your Sparty fantasy in the years to come.

Dantonio has done a nice job getting MSU to some level of respectability- but that is the end of it. Don’t get to happy on the Green Sparty Juice your drinking- the hang over will be a bear!

  • Mark N

Michigan fans now need to realize that the winged helmets and Big House do not guarantee success.

I’m not ready to annoint the Spartans as the new kings of football in the State quite yet, but as Dantonio made clear in 2007: we are here, we are not backing down, and Michigan better get used to it.

Now the real work for MSU begins. They need to take care of business against Illinois, take all the other games on at a time, and have a great season. It’s not enough to be happy with merely beating Michigan. The Spartans have a chance for a special season.

  • YESSSSS

This is what i have been saying!!! Michigans dominance in this state is now over.PERIOD! They were out-played, out-coached, and just flat out destroyed. I love how before the game michigan fans would say “We have Denard so we will win” Like mike said this isnt bowling green or umass. He hadnt proved anything against a decent team. Not to take away from the mans talent and extremely impressive speed..but he was contained and michigan had nothing else they could do. They put it all on Denards shoulders and when he couldnt do it they quit. Down three scores with 6 mins left and punting just shows how much faith their coach even has in his team. Just sit back and accept it michigan yes you used to dominate..but that doesnt matter anymore…right now little brother is in charge and they proved it once and for all by shitting all over you and the big house…the spartan era has begun!

  • YESSSSS

oopps didnt mean to put it twice

  • YESSSSS

When are they going to accept the obvious? Michigan State is better period and will continue to be

  • Dan

You clearly do not process information very well do you? He is speaking about the style of football and the way MSU beat uofm. MSU was clearly the superior football team top to bottom. If you took the uniforms off and redressed the teams in generic uniforms you would have guessed the MSU players were in fact uofm from the late 90′s. So don’t take his comments out of context, he clearly said “it’s not about we’re better than you because MSU has a long way to go.” How does what he said and what you are claiming match up? Answer: you are clueless.

  • Captain 19

LOL..Kyle..let’s see the last time sparty won 3 in a row was in the mid 60..47 years later sparty did it again..soo that means they will do it again in the year of 2057 right..lol..consistant ill give you that..

  • Dan

Sparty Radio is getting to the point of being unlistenable. This rant is repititive, uncreative, and simply untrue.

  • Al

Thank you Mike for letting the Delusional MIchigan Fans understand that they have gotten beat over and over and over again(that’s 3 right?) by Michigan State. Michigan has fallen and Michigan state will not fall like in the past cause they are getting the recruits and the discipline to win big time.

  • mhartsell

I still listen to this speech every week to get me pumped up for msu football on Saturdays. i am an msu fan for a long time and this season is just great mike did a great job covering this one
