Sometimes students have difficulty seeing how to structure an essay in which they express their own ideas clearly. Read Write Think, a website from the National Council of Teacher of English, provides students with online tools to input their basic ideas for an essay, as well as some supporting information.

The website takes these and creates a visual map of the essay, with boxes for the students to fill in with further information. As the student does this, an outline takes shape, which can then form a map to a full essay.
