Medical Examiner Rules Infant's Death A Homicide

An autopsy has ruled the death of 8-month-old boy whose mother is accused of throwing him against a wall a homicide.

The Macomb Daily of Mount Clemens says a preliminary report by the Wayne County medical examiner's office indicates the child suffered multiple blunt traumas.

Twenty-year-old Delniece Williams was charged with first-degree child abuse and remains held on $1 million bond. Her next court hearing is Oct. 21.

She's asked for a court-appointed lawyer. Police say she could face a murder charge later.

Authorities say Williams and her son George Wilburn were staying in Warren, and the child was brought to a hospital last Monday. Police say George had skull fractures and several broken ribs.

A funeral is planned 11 a.m. Friday at Unity Baptist Church in Detroit.
