Michigan State police say a car with five Chinese graduate students on a trip to view northern Michigan's fall colors crashed, killing two and injuring the other three.

Four of the students were attending the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, and the fifth is enrolled at Michigan State University in East Lansing.

State Trooper Jesse Diaz on Monday identified those killed as driver Ran Xu and front seat passenger Zhangqin Xie. Both were 22.

Diaz tells AnnArbor.com the injured passengers are 23-year-old Chang Gong, and 22-year-olds Linling Cai and Wenting Cheng. Cai attends Michigan State.

The crash happened Saturday morning on Interstate 75 in Arenac County. The cause isn't known.
