Father Of Dead Toddlers To Face Charges?

The father of two toddlers found dead inside an Allen Park apartment is expected to face charges.  The Wayne County medical examiner said an autopsy concluded the children died from drowning and scalding.  The results were released Thursday.

The bodies of 15-month-old Ella Stafford and 13-month old Jonathon Sanderlin were found by police after their father, 27-year old Steven Nicholson, called 911 early Tuesday to report they had drowned in the bathtub.

The Allen Park Police Department indicated an arraignment would take place Thursday afternoon, however that never materialized.  The Wayne County Prosecutor's office issued a statement later Thursday saying a warrant request was being reviewed.

Meantime, funeral plans have been announced for one of two children.

There will be a public viewing for Ella Stafford from 3 to 9 p.m. Friday at Martinsen Funeral Home on Allen Road in Allen Park. A burial will follow Saturday at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Hope Cemetery in Brownstown Township. An account has been set up at Fifth Third Bank in the name of Ella Grace Stafford.

No funeral plans have been announced for the second toddler.  The two children have different mothers.
