Authorities say a Harper Woods woman who told police she threw her 8-month-old son against a wall has been charged with first-degree murder.

Twenty-year-old Delniece Williams already faced a first-degree child abuse charge and was being held on a $1 million bond.

The Macomb Daily of Mount Clemens says Williams cried in a Warren court Thursday when she learned prosecutors were adding the new charge. Conviction brings life in prison without parole.

She’s expected to get a new court-appointed lawyer now that she faces the murder charge.

Williams and infant son George Wilburn were staying in Warren. She brought the baby to a hospital Oct. 11, and he died the next day. George’s funeral is Friday.
