Detroit Ordered To Explain Missing Computers

The federal magistrate over seeing a lawsuit filed by the family of slain stripper Tamara Greene said Tuesday he was "highly troubled" by the actions of the city of Detroit.

The City has been ordered to explain why computers belonging to former Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick and his staff were destroyed.

The City says Kilpatrick's computer hard drive was thrown out eight months before he resigned in 2008. City lawyer John Schapka said the hard drive used by Kilpatrick's chief of staff is also missing.

The disclosure was made in court Tuesday while lawyers were discussing evidence in a civil lawsuit. Greene's relatives are suing Kilpatrick, claiming he stifled the investigation into her fatal shooting, which occurred in 2003. Kilpatrick denies it.

The missing hard drives could make it difficult to recover e-mails that could be related to the case.

Greene was the same exotic dancer who was rumored to have performed at the infamous by never-proven Manooigan Mansion party.
