Mich. Mom Sells Handwritten Obama Note For $7K

A 28-year-old mother of two from southern Michigan whose bleak prospects prompted a handwritten note from President Barack Obama promising "things will keep getting better'' has sold the memento for $7,000 to make ends meet.

Jennifer Cline of Monroe received Obama's two-sentence note in January after writing him a three-page letter detailing her family's situation. The former pharmacy technician who has been unemployed since losing her job in 2007 also suffers from skin cancer.

Thirty-year-old Jason Cline tells The Detroit News his wife "cried over her decision'' because she remains an Obama supporter and wanted to keep the note. He said the money will get the family through the winter.

The note was sold to an autograph collector, who hopes it will fetch $18,000.
