October Auto Sales

October auto sales are trickling in, and they're expected to come in slightly below one million vehicles. That's an annual rate of about 12 million vehicles per month.

Sales in October were uneven, coming in strong some days and weak on others. Ford and General Motors are expected to provide their numbers today.

Meanwhile, Christmas is coming early this year for General Motors. The Wall Street Journal says documents filed with federal regulators indicate that GM will leave its government-financed restructuring with a tax break that could be worth up to $45 billion.
