Andy Dillon Considered For State Treasurer

(AP Photo/Al Goldis, File)Michigan House Speaker Andy Dillon, a Democrat, is under consideration to be State Treasurer in governor-elect Rick Snyder's new administration. That's according to WWJ Lansing Bureau Chief Tim Skubick, who reports Dillon is "intrigued" by the idea.

Dillon ran for governor, but lost in the Democratic primary to Virg Bernero.  Dillon did not support Bernero in the general election.

Snyder, a Republican, is putting together his administration ahead of January 1st when he becomes Michigan's 48th governor.

Skubick said Snyder and Dillon have talked about the Treasurer position, but nothing has been decided just yet.

"Dillon is thinking about it. Mr Snyder hasn't made the offer, but he has promised on the campaign trail that he would bring Democrats into his administration. Could the first Democrat be Andy Dillon?" Skubuck said.

Dillon is himself a former Republican. He switched to the blue side when he ran for the House seat.

Snyder is expected to name at least two of his appointees on Monday. (More on this).
