Telegraph Tie-ups, More Roadwork This Weekend

It's not over yet! Weekend road construction will turn a major Oakland County thoroughfare into a mess this weekend.

As the barrels start to come down on the long-term Telegraph Road project in Oakland County, it will be best to avoid a stretch of that road this weekend.  WWJ's John Bailey reports work in that area is likely to slow traffic to a crawl, with complete stoppages possible.

MDOT crews plan to have southbound Telegraph funneled into a single lane between Maple Rd. (15 Mile) and 12 Mile all day Saturday and Sunday, as well as periodic complete closures near 12 Mile late Friday night and early Saturday morning.

Another bad spot will slow your trip though Canton Township, where crews plan to take northbound I-275 down to one lane near Michigan Ave. on Saturday from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m.  Plan to exit at Ecorse Rd and use Wayne Road to bypass it.

You'll also want to steer clear of a section of I-96 in Oakland County during the early morning hours on Sunday. Crews plan completely stop traffic for up to 15 minutes both ways on I-96 near Milford Rd on Sunday between 8 a.m. and 11 a.m.

Complete Weekend Roadwork Details (from MDOT):

I-275:
In Wayne County, the right and center lanes of northbound I-275 will be closed from Michigan Avenue to Ford Road for installation of a bridge on the I-275 bike path. The double lane closure begins at 11:30 a.m. and ends by 5 p.m. on Saturday.

I-696:
In Macomb County, the 11 Mile Road entrance ramp to eastbound I-696 will be closed from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. on Friday for ongoing construction.

I-75:
In Wayne County, beginning at 7 a.m. and ending by 3 p.m. on Friday, the northbound I-75 exit ramp to Dearborn Street will be closed for freeway lighting work.

I-94/M-10 interchange:
In Detroit, weather permitting, the ramp from northbound M-10 (Lodge Freeway) to westbound I-94 is expected to open tomorrow evening. Some time next week, crews will close the ramp from eastbound I-94 to northbound M-10 until Thanksgiving. The ramp closures are in association with the freeway lighting upgrade on the corridor and the freeway interchanges.

I-96:
In Oakland County, a permit has been granted to DTE to install an overhead wire above I-96 at Milford Road. This will result in two-15 minute  intermittent closures on the eastbound and westbound lanes, one at 8 a.m. the other at 10 a.m. on Sunday.

M-59:
In Oakland County, John R Road at M-59 will be closed for ongoing bridge work beginning at 8 p.m. on Friday and ending by 5 a.m. on Monday. Detours for John R will be posted for each direction of traffic.

In Oakland County, beginning at 9 a.m. on Friday and ending by 7 p.m. on Saturday, eastbound M-59 will be reduced to a single lane from Crooks to Dequindre for a traffic switch.

M-39 (Southfield Freeway):
In Wayne County, northbound and southbound M-39 will be reduced to a single lane at Outer Drive (Allen Park) for a MichCon permit. The double lane closure begins at 9 p.m. tonight and ends by 5 a.m. on Friday.

In Wayne County, crews have opened to traffic the northbound and southbound M-39 lane restrictions between I-75 and I-94. The eastbound and westbound I-94 ramps to southbound M-39 will open on Friday, weather permitting.

US-24 (Telegraph Road):
In Oakland County, beginning at 6 a.m. on Saturday and ending by 6 p.m. on Sunday, southbound Telegraph will have short, intermittent closures for sign truss installation. In addition, the first crossover on southbound Telegraph, just south of 12 Mile will be closed during the same time frame.

In Oakland County, beginning at 6 a.m. on Saturday and ending by 6 p.m. on Sunday, southbound Telegraph will be reduced to a single lane from 15 Mile to 12 Mile road for ongoing construction.
