Flint Clinic First In Michigan With Breast MRI Accreditation: Regional Medical Imaging in Flint announced last week that it is the first imaging center in Michigan to receive Accreditation for Breast Magnetic Resonance Imaging by the American College of Radiology. In May 2010, the ACR unveiled the Breast MRI Accreditation Program to recognize imaging centers that meet the highest standards in quality of care for Breast MRI. RMI received this new distinction after a comprehensive evaluation of image quality, equipment performance, personnel qualifications, and quality control measures. Said MRI’s Randy Hicks, M.D.: “This accreditation is an outstanding achievement that, added to our existing Breast Imaging Center of Excellence designation, demonstrates how we continue to raise the bar in delivering quality care to women.” Added David A. Strahle, M.D.: “Applying advanced imaging technology to the early detection of breast cancer has been a primary mission of RMI since our inception. We’re honored to receive this recognition, but we also view this milestone as a challenge to continue to forge ahead toward new advances in the fight against breast cancer.” For more than 25 years, RMI has maintained a strong commitment to leadership in providing state-of-the-art breast cancer detection and women’s imaging services in the mid-Michigan market. This includes having been the first Medicare-approved mammogram screening program in Michigan. As a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence, RMI is also fully accredited in mammography, breast ultrasound, ultrasound-guided breast biopsy, and stereotactic breast biopsy.
